Gluten Free Pressure Cooker Tri Tip is a delicious meal and easy to make! I love that you cook everything in the Instant Pot so it saves you time on clean up by only getting one dish dirty! If you are looking for an easy recipe for dinner you have found it! This recipe was updated on 3/4/22. WHAT HAPPENS IF I OVERCOOK THIS INSTANT POT TRI TIP? If you accidentally overcook the tri tip, watch the video for the save to make it delicious! If you remove the tri tip at the correct time you will cook it to medium rare so don’t worry! But, if you get distracted and forget about it like I sometimes do, then there’s a risk of it overcooking. HOW LONG DO I COOK THE TRI TIP? The cooking time for this tri tip is 17 minutes for medium rare. If you want it to be rare, cook for 15 minutes. Medium well will cook for 19 minutes. If you would like it well done, your cook time is 22 minutes or cook it for 17 minutes and allow it to natural release until the vent is open. This gives you tender meat and is my favorite way to cook it. IS IT SAFE TO COOK WITH A PRESSURE COOKER OR INSTANT POT? We purchased a pressure cooker from Amazon and I was honestly really afraid of using it. I remember my Grandma opening the lid and stuff went flying.. not a pretty sight! I’ve heard horror stories of lids flying through ceilings and injuries. The new electric cookers are very easy to use! My Instant Pot is sealed so you cannot open it unless it is safe. I have the Instant Pot version, however, both of my girls have another pressure cooker and it is the same. I hope you are brave and enjoy this pressure cooker Tri-Tip recipe! Really- don’t be afraid! It was really easy to use! The beef came out perfectly medium rare. You can adjust the time by a minute to two minutes if you want it rare or well done. WHAT YOU WILL NEED FOR THIS PRESSURE COOKER TRI TIP: You will need the following items to make this recipe: 1- 2lb Tri-tip roast 1 pkg crimini or portobello mushrooms A yellow onion 1 clove of garlic 2 whole carrots chopped 1/4 Cup Butter 3/4 Cups Red Wine or Beef Broth if you do not want wine. Salt and Pepper. And of course a pressure cooker or Instant Pot. HOW DO I MAKE THIS TRI TIP RECIPE? Allow the tri tip to come to room temperature for about 15 minutes before starting.
A Tri Tip is a triangular shape of meat that is from a cow. It is from the bottom sirloin. When you cut this meat, you will have to change the direction you are cutting in because the grain of the meat changes. It is a great cut of meat for the entire family to enjoy! You can find it at the grocery store and Costco! It is a lean cut of beef and requires minimal effort to get dinner on the table with this slow cooker recipe. This is an update from when I originally posted this recipe because I love my Instant Pot and use it all the time. I wanted to update the instructions because there seemed to be some confusion on the reviews. Hopefully, this helps as well as the video you can watch AMAZON: Here are some items from Amazon that might make making this recipe easier. If you buy them from my Affiliate Links I will get a small commission. It does not affect the price you pay but it does help compensate me for my blog. Here are my policies and disclosures. WHAT INSTANT POT BRAND SHOULD I USE? I have two different brands of pressure cookers. I have only used an electric pressure cooker. The brands I have are the Instant Pot one as well as the Pampered Chef one. I like them both equally. They allow me to make a hearty meal like this one! WHY THIS IS ONE OF MY FAVORITE INSTANT POT RECIPES: This Tri-tip is one of my favorite pressure cooker recipes because it is easy to make and tastes delicious. If you make the additional gravy from the sauteed veggies it is the perfect comfort food. You can whip up hot beef sandwiches in less than 40 minutes! Or mashed potatoes and gravy with delicious medium-rare beef in that time frame too! I love meals that are cooked in less than an hour! WATCH THE VIDEO! In this video, I show you how to make this recipe. I also show you what to do if you miss the beep and don’t release the pressure on time. Don’t worry dinner isn’t ruined yet. I hope you love this recipe as much as we do! As Always, Best Wishes for Gluten-Free Dishes! XO, Michelle Jamaican Jerk Tri-tip is a delicious and easy meal to make! I like to cook it on the grill but you can also cook it in the oven or in a smoker! You can also use any kind of meat you would like with this gluten-free Jamaican jerk seasoning. Some of our favorites are chicken, pork, shrimp, and fish! But today, we are going to focus on the gluten-free Jamaican Jerk Tri-tip! Original Post was written 09/05/2013 and updated 1/24/22. WHAT IS JAMAICAN JERK SEASONING? This is what I found from Wikipedia: Jerk is a style of cooking native to Jamaica, in which meat is dry-rubbed or wet marinated with a hot spice mixture called Jamaican jerk spice. Historians believe that jerking originated with the Amerindians in Jamaica from the Arawak and Taíno tribes who intermingled with the Maroons. The smoky taste of jerked meat is achieved using various cooking methods, including modern wood-burning ovens. The meat is normally chicken or pork, and the main ingredients of the spicy jerk marinade sauce are allspice and Scotch bonnet peppers. Jerk cooking is popular in Caribbean and West Indian diaspora communities throughout North America and Western Europe. WHAT INGREDIENTS DO I NEED TO MAKE JAMAICAN JERK SEASONING?JERK SEASONING: ginger mustard seeds allspice onion powder garlic powder smoked paprika thyme fennel seed pepper cloves red pepper flakes cayenne- more or less to desired heat. HOW DO I COOK THE JAMAICAN JERK TRI TIP ON THE GRILL? Place all ingredients in a bowl and mix together. I use about a teaspoon of each ingredient depending on how much meat I am going to be using it on. I save the extra seasoning in a baggie for next time if there is leftover seasoning. Mix all ingredients and rub on all surfaces of the meat. Let meat rest at room temp for 15 min before grilling. Sear the meat on a higher temperature grill to create a nice crust. This usually takes about 6 minutes per side. I watch it carefully to avoid burning it. Turn down the temp and cook your tri-tip until medium to medium rare(or however done you like your meat). This is usually about 8-10 minutes per side on the lower temperature. I check it with a meat thermometer to make sure I don’t overcook it. (135 is medium-rare) Let it rest for about 10 minutes before slicing against the grain of the meat. Serve immediately. HOW DO I COOK THE TRI-TIP IN THE OVEN? Follow the above directions to make the seasoning and rub it on the tri-tip. To cook your tri-tip in the oven, use a large, oven-safe pan that your tri-tip will fit into. Put the pan on the stove with a drizzle of olive oil inside. Sear the tri-tip on both sides to give it a nice crust. Take the pan off of the heat and put it into a 350-degree oven. Cook it until a meat thermometer reaches the desired doneness. 130 degrees is medium-rare. The tri-tip will cook on average at 10 minutes per pound. HOW DO I SMOKE THE GLUTEN-FREE JAMAICAN JERK TRI-TIP? Follow the above instructions on how to make the seasoning and rub it on the tri-tip. Turn your smoker on to 225 degrees F. Smoke the tri-tip until it hits an internal temperature of 135 degrees for medium-rare. Generally, it takes about 30 minutes per pound. A 2-pound tri-tip would need to smoke for about an hour. I love the extra smokey flavor cooking it this way adds. Now I’m drooling! IF YOU LIKE THIS RECIPE, YOU MIGHT ALSO LIKE: Gluten Free Coffee Rubbed Tri Tip– an alternative way to make your tri-tip. As Always, Best Wishes for gluten-free dishes! XO, Michelle Gluten-Free Philly Cheesesteak Stuffed Potatoes are a delicious appetizer! They are fun to make and are not too labor-intensive! You can make them using mini potatoes like I did or make them with larger potatoes and have them as a meal. Either way, they are delicious! September is here and September brings Fall! I am very excited about cooler weather and all things pumpkin! (Spoiler alert… pumpkin recipes are on the way) Today’s recipe is one I made to take to a BBQ this weekend. It would also be a great recipe for tailgating since football has started. It is definitely a crowd pleaser! Original Post was written 09/02/2014 and updated 1/24/22 WHAT DO I NEED TO MAKE PHILLY CHEESESTEAK STUFFED POTATOES? To make this recipe you will need the following ingredients: Green Peppers Yellow Onions Mushrooms Pastrami Sliced Provolone Cheese Potatoes- I used mini potatoes for appetizers but you could use big potatoes for lunch or dinner. HOW DO I MAKE THEM? The first step is to chop all of the veggies and the pastrami into small pieces so they are easy to stuff into the potato. The next step is to sauté all of the veggies and then add in the pastrami. Bake the potatoes, either in the microwave or oven. Cut them in half then scoop out the middle. Save the middle for hash browns tomorrow :) Drizzle the potatoes with oil and broil them in the oven to make them crispy. Lay a small piece of sliced provolone cheese in the bottom of each potato. Put the toppings into the potatoes and put another slice of provolone cheese on top. Put them in the oven to melt the cheese. When it’s brown and bubbly, they are ready to eat!
